Three Sisters Wigan Competition

Last weekend I competed at the competition at Three Sister up in Wigan. I had a great comp getting 5 PBs across 7 rounds of slalom, trick and jump.

After two days at squad training at  South Lake I travelled up to Wigan for the competition. On the first day I had three rounds of slalom, my favourite event. in the first round I got 2 @ 13 m which was a solid score but one I wanted to build on in the next rounds. The second round went extremely well, I got 4 buoys at 13 which was a new PB and beat my previous British Record by 1 buoy! I then matched this score in the second round so it was a very successful day! Well done to Amy Whaling for also getting a PB of 2 @ 13 and Lucy Roberts for getting a PB of 1.5 @ 13!

The next day started with the 2 trick rounds. I was desperate to stand up my new trick run seeing as it had gone so badly at Nationals, but as my coaches John Battleday and Jodi Fisher said after Nationals, “All the best kids fall” and “Everything happens for a reason” and in the first round I got a PB of 2360! I was extremely pleased with this as it meant almost all of my tricks had scored! The next round I had an even better ski scoring all my tricks apart from my wake 5 meaning I got another PB of 2650! Well done again to Amy Whaling who also got a PB of 2530.

The last event was jump and, for me, the most pressuring event of the comp as I had to jump at least 12m to qualify for Europeans the following week. My first jump did not go so well, only scoring 11.1m but I had 2 more jumps that round and after deciding to cut to the ramp a bit later I managed to score 13.2m meaning I had qualified to jump at Europeans! This meant that I could relax for the next round and have some fun!My next jump was even better scoring 13.8m and getting another PB! Well done to Amy for also getting a PB of 13.8 and to Lucy for jumping a well earned PB of 23m, Amy and I have some catching up to do!

Thank you to Three Sisters Waterski Club for hosting the event and John Battleday, Arron Davies and Jodi Fisher for all the support and training and Tony Munro for the photos 📸

Nationals

Hi guys!

Nationals this year was so fun! Not only were all my skiing friends there (Amy Whalling and Dani Halford for their first time) but I got a PB in jump and a PB and British Record in slalom and coming second in overall!

Before the competition I hadn’t done any jump training because the ramp at JB is still being referbed which meant I haven’t been able to progress as much as I would have liked to. Despite this I still had good jumps and came in 3rd place behind Lucy Roberts and Amy Whaling.

Tricks didn’t go so well. After falling on my second trick in the preliminary on my hand run I did a prefect toe run with just one trick not scored as it was out of time putting me second place coming into the final. However in the final I fell on my first and trick and third toe trick putting me in third place in tricks as well as jump. I was devastated but had the slalom finals in the afternoon and had to put trick s behind me.

I was extremely nervous for the slalom finals after my tricks that morning and my preliminary’s hadn’t gone well as my ski released around 2 on 14 m, however only Lilli Deste had a good prelim getting a Personal Best of  0.5 at 13m which meant I was still in second place.

After Arron Davies tightened my reflex binding for my to make sure it didn’t pre-release I went out to ski. After my disastrous tricks that morning I had an amazing slalom final getting a new British Record and personal best with 3 buoys at 13m! I was extremely pleased with this and it was an amazing end to the week (although I felt I could have got further down 13).

I would like to thank the Turps for hosting the Nationals, I had a great time, and John Battleday, Jodi Fisher, Arron Davies and Joel Poland of all the training and advice.IMG_3100IMG_3103IMG_3109IMG_0265IMG_3115IMG_0261

I Made The British Team U14!

Hi guys,

I’m so excited to have made the British Team and can’t wait to compete at Europeans with the rest of the under 14 team, Amy Whaling, Lucy Roberts and Tom Parkins. Thank you to the selectors for picking me and Danny Budd and Jay Brown for the early coaching and John Battleday, Jodi Fisher, Aron Davies and Joel Poland for the current coaching and endless support. I couldn’t do it without everyone’s help.  So happy, and so happy for my friends that made the team too.

I’ll be back soon with more updates. Now I have to train (lots).

Hazelwood Competition

Hi Guys

At the weekend I competed at Hazelwood Ski World in a three event comp. The wind was very strong but I still got a good score in the second round at 1 @ 13m in the second round after not running 14m in the first – can’t believe I got 5.5 buoys but didn’t make it through the gates. I was pretty please with 1@13  because I’ve not slalomed trained between comps.

In trick I got good scores but could have done a lot better. My toe runs we the best they have ever been and I scored every single one of my tricks in the tun in the second round. However my hand runs were not so good. Most of my wake tricks were flat which doesn’t normally happen and cost me a lot of points, but both my scores were over 2000 which I am very pleased about.

In jump I did well. In the second round I matched my PB from the Gosfield comp of 11m and got all my other scores from both rounds into 10m. All my jumps were solid and I landed all of them. I’m a long way off some of the other girls but I’m happy that I’m solid right now.

Mid air

During the comp all the selectors were watching and deciding the team which was very nerve racking but after the comp we all swam in the back lake to cool down and had loads of fun jumping in off the high decking!

Thank you to George and Flo Hazelwood for running the comp and John Battleday and Arron Davies for all the coaching.

So many comps!

Hi guys! I have been at competitions for the past few weeks and have been having a great time. My friend and glidesoul sister Amy Whaling has been competing with me and we have both been getting great scores. At Oxford Water Ski I had a good comp getting    1 @ 13m at 52kmph. However I had to pull out after the first round of trick as I was sick which was really disappointing. It also meant that I couldn’t train for jump at Gosfield the next weekend!

At the next comp at Gosfield I did really well, matching my PB in slalom in challenging conditions, scoring 2200 in trick and jumping 11m. I was really happy will all my scores but want to beat my score in slalom this weekend at Hazelwood!
